'Skye Roots' offers a unique, highly personal yet affordable research
service.
Whether seeking to expand your understanding of your own family,
or perhaps, as a unique gift to a friend, loved-one or
relative, 'Skye Roots' has the expertise to delve deep into history and
furnish you with a unique, personal and fascinating report.
With data gathered over many years, drawing on the powers of
computerisation and a fanatical attention to detail, 'Skye Roots' has
painstakingly assembled over 6,500 local family charts, to which
information is continually being added.
With a historic lack of information prior to 1855 plus other
challenges to overcome (many people with the same names, large scale
movements of families and variations on place names to name but three),
Norma takes nothing at face value and cross-checks every last detail
before including it all in her database, highlighting any
contradictory or dubious information, so that the full picture
can be surveyed during research. This approach allows Norma to report
based on the entire record and give the version that she concludes is
correct. With this approach, conflicting
information is dealt with and Norma can substantiate her views based on all of the information available.
From an initial query right through to a final report, 'Skye
Roots' service is personal and second-to-none. Although each assignment
is agreed in advance as to the scope and fee, typically an initial
report costing £50 is the usual starting point.
Averaging around 4 x A4 pages, an initial report will include one
or more charts of the family tree, some general relevant historical /
geographical background information as well as the sources upon which
the report is based. The report is despatched on receipt of the agreed
assignment fee. The report may well also include recommendations for
further research to expand the scope and content, together with a
quotation for the respective costs / expenses that would be
incurred.
'Skye Roots' research can be doubly rewarding if you are
considering a visit to the Isle of Skye. By commissioning an initial
report (recommended maybe a year in advance of your potential visit) you
would be able to use the information contained within to plan and make
the most of your time on the Island, visiting ALL of the places that
hold special significance for your family.
There is absolutely NO OBLIGATION in your initial enquiry.
